To become better at controlling your class you must do a few things. The first thing is to be better at your own class and there is only one way of doing that - play it like you mean it. Log countless quests until you know every technique that your class has available.
When you feel comfortable with your class it is time to study! Boring but oh so usefull. Knowing your enemies techniques better than they do is key to getting an advantage. When faced with a Priest that is familiar with all of your abilities it gets down to who can counter the other player best.
In raids you do well to know your class to the fullest but also what and why the other classes are doing what they are doing. Talking to your class leader and most of all asking your class leader questions is a favourable method of knowing your class to the fullest.
Most important in raiding is controlled temper and if you become great at that as a individual you will rapidly advance in your guild ranks.
